Affiliate Disclosure
How this site is funded, in the interest of full transparency.
Vehicle VIN Search is an independent, reader-supported site. When you use a link to a report provider and take a qualifying action, we may earn a commission. This never changes what you pay, and it does not influence what we write. We are not affiliated with any government agency, motor vehicle department, or vehicle manufacturer.
How our affiliate links work
Some of the links on this Site are affiliate links. If you click one and complete a qualifying action — such as signing up with a partner — we may receive a commission from that partner. This is disclosed in keeping with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guidance on endorsements and material connections (16 CFR Part 255).
Our partners
We work with reputable vehicle history report providers. When a paid report is the right call, we point you to one and explain plainly what it does and doesn't cover, so there are no surprises about what you're signing up for.
It costs you nothing extra
Using an affiliate link never increases the price you pay. The commission comes from the partner, not from you. Whether you use our link or go to the partner directly, your cost is the same.
Editorial independence
Commissions do not determine what we cover or what we say. We describe what vehicle history reports can and cannot tell you as plainly and accurately as we can, including their limitations and the times when a free check or a physical inspection is what you actually need. If a tool has drawbacks, we say so. Our aim is to be useful to you first; the funding follows from that, not the other way around.
